Bike Week Kick-Off 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Stride Place, north entrance. Kick off bike week by bringing your bike down for a bike wash station, minor repairs and bike valet. Repairs brought to you by The Greasy Chain.
Bike & Yoga in the Park 11:00 pm – 12:00 pm
Meet at the bandstand by the play structure at Island Park – bring your yoga mat.
Mountain Bike Trails Group Ride 7:00 pm
Intermediate skill level ride hosted by Junk Yard Dogs Cycling Club, meet at Dump Hill. Must have an off-road bike and helmet.

Gravel Grumble Ride 2:30 pm
Meet at Stride Place front entrance
7 km+ ride (distance dependant on conditions).
Monday, May 28
Open Shop at The Greasy Chain 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Check it out at Garage corner of Fisher Ave and 1st St NW.
Public Art Tour 7:00 pm
Meet at Stride Place front entrance, 1 hour tour & art project at The Greasy Chain community bike shop. Bring a light coloured shirt for the art project.
Tuesday, May 29
Recreational Ride &
Age Friendly Outdoor Equipment Launch 6:30 pm
Meet at Stride Place for an hour-long urban ride. All abilities welcome and no one left behind. The ride will be stopping by the outdoor exercise equipment for a demo and trial. Receive swag, and the new Portage la Prairie walking and cycling map!
Wednesday, May 30
Family Cookie Ride 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Starting point, water and washroom stations:
École Crescentview, Fort La Reine, Yellowquill, and Laverendrye Schools. Ice cream at Laveredrye School and Island Park. Begin at neighbourhood school, choose a route and appropriate distance (map provided), those who visit all 5 locations will be eligible to win a prize!
Check in at school stations for a homemade cookie made by Girl Guides of Portage and the Family Resource Centre.
Birch Mountain Bike Trails Group Ride 6:30pm
Hosted by Portage Junk Yard Dogs Cycling Club
All riders must register by Tuesday, May 29th by phoning Blair Geisel at 204-856-9352. Skill level: expert – trails have steep ascents and riders must be very fit to participate.
Mountain bike must be in very good working condition and a helmet is mandatory.
Thursday, May 31
Cycling Grub Crawl 6:00 pm
Meet at Splash Island parking lot (see ticket for route).
Tickets $25.00 (available at the library), plus money for ice cream (optional) at Northside Market.
Cycle the designated route (18 km) or create your own as you stop along the way to enjoy a light meal at each of the following locations: Café on Prince, Tornados, and Northside Market.

All schools in the Portage School Division are encouraged to bike to school and register to win your school a bike rack!
Bike to Work Day
We urge employers to encourage their employees to bike to work! The benefits are far reaching. People who bike to work quote benefits of being less stressed, more relaxed and rejuvenated, as well as experiencing an increased sense of well-being.
